Knightriders

A travelling troupe of motorcyclists tours small American towns staging medieval tournaments, jousting on their bikes rather than on horses. They dress as knights of the Round Table and try to live by a code of honour, courage and chivalry drawn from Arthurian legend, with their leader, Billy, regarded as their king. Their public shows draw crowds and, before long, media attention. Offers of money and solo engagements elsewhere, along with pressure from local authorities, put the group's family-like bond under strain, and Billy's own sense of grandeur becomes a further source of friction.

George A. Romero directed and wrote the film, with Richard P. Rubinstein producing. It was the fifth of the fourteen features Romero directed, arriving between Martin and Creepshow and marking a departure from the horror material he was known for. Ed Harris plays Billy, heading a cast that also includes Gary Lahti, Tom Savini, Amy Ingersoll, Patricia Tallman and Christine Forrest, with seventy-one credited performers in all. Made for about three million dollars, the film received a mixed reception: on IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from around six thousand votes, on TMDB 6.2 out of 10 from 129 votes, and its critics' rating stands at 6.2 out of 10 from sixteen reviews, placing professional and audience assessments close together.
