What's left behind the scenes

  • The animated film is based on the novel by Jean-Pierre Andrevon, “The Men-Machines Against Gandahar” (Les hommes-machines contre Gandahar, 1969).
  • This cartoon was adapted for the American audience by science fiction writer Isaac Asimov.
  • The film was shot in North Korea.
  • Rene Lalou conceived of an adaptation of Jean-Pierre Andrevon's novel "People-Machines Against Gandahar" as early as the seventies, but initially, things did not go well. There was only enough money for a ten-minute cartoon, the team dispersed, and the project had to be postponed. Lalou did not abandon his dream of adapting this story and realized it in the late eighties.
