Short description
On the planet Gandahar where peace reigns and poverty is unknown, this utopian lifestyle is upset by reports of people at the outlying frontiers being turned to stone. Sylvain is sent to investigate this mysterious threat.

- The animated film is based on the novel by Jean-Pierre Andrevon, “The Men-Machines Against Gandahar” (Les hommes-machines contre Gandahar, 1969).
- This cartoon was adapted for the American audience by science fiction writer Isaac Asimov.
- The film was shot in North Korea.
- Rene Lalou conceived of an adaptation of Jean-Pierre Andrevon's novel "People-Machines Against Gandahar" as early as the seventies, but initially, things did not go well. There was only enough money for a ten-minute cartoon, the team dispersed, and the project had to be postponed. Lalou did not abandon his dream of adapting this story and realized it in the late eighties.
