Trapped in Paradise

Trapped in Paradise follows three brothers who reunite when two of them are released from prison. Bill Firpo, the responsible one, is drawn into the schemes of Dave, a habitual liar, and Alvin, a kleptomaniac. Their plans bring them to Paradise, a small town in Pennsylvania, where they decide to rob the local bank on Christmas Eve. The town's unusually welcoming residents complicate the brothers' getaway, and their escape is further hindered by a snowstorm that leaves them stranded.

George Gallo directed and wrote the film, his second feature after 29th Street in 1991. Nicolas Cage plays Bill, with Jon Lovitz as Dave and Dana Carvey as Alvin; Mädchen Amick, Florence Stanley and Donald Moffat appear in supporting roles. The film was released in December 1994 and, against a production mounted by 20th Century Fox and Permut Presentations, returned about 6 million dollars worldwide. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.6 out of 10 from 291 votes, while critics gave it 3.4 out of 10 across 20 reviews, a notably wider gap than the audience score suggests.
