Short description
Oren Little is a real estate agent in New York who has made himself thoroughly unpleasant: he treats nearly everyone he meets with open disdain and looks forward only to selling one last property and retiring. His isolation is disrupted when his estranged son reappears and leaves behind a granddaughter, Sarah, whose existence Oren had not known about. Unable to look after a child on his own, he turns to Leah, the neighbor he has spent years antagonizing. As Sarah settles into his life and Leah refuses to be pushed away, Oren slowly begins to let other people in.
The 2014 comedy-drama was directed by Rob Reiner, working from a screenplay by Mark Andrus and producing alongside Mark Damon and Alan Greisman. It is the fifteenth of the nineteen films Reiner has directed, arriving between The Magic of Belle Isle and Being Charlie, and it reunites him with Michael Douglas, who plays Oren. Diane Keaton appears as Leah, Sterling Jerins plays Sarah, and the cast of thirty-seven credited performers also includes Paloma Guzmán, Frances Sternhagen and Frankie Valli.
