Richard Haig is a respected professor at Cambridge University who balances his professional life with a habit of pursuing numerous romantic interests among his students. His lifestyle shifts when Kate, a young American woman, becomes pregnant with his child. While Richard seeks a more stable family life, he finds himself torn between his responsibilities to Kate and his deep attraction to her sister, Olivia. The story follows the complications that arise from this romantic triangle and the challenges of fatherhood.
