Short description

After being eaten by a dragon, the spirit of Lord Farquaad returns to seek revenge. He enlists his assistant, Thelonious, to kidnap Fiona. To rescue her, Shrek and Donkey team up with the dragon to stop Farquaad before Fiona is carried over a waterfall on a raft.

This animated adventure and comedy was directed by Simon J. Smith, marking the first film in a list of four directed works that also includes Bee Movie, Megamind: The Button of Doom, and Penguins of Madagascar. The screenplay was written by David Lipman, who also served as a producer alongside Jeffrey Katzenberg. The voice cast features Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, and Cameron Diaz as Fiona, with John Lithgow voicing the ghost of Farquaad and Christopher Knights providing the voices for Theolonius and the Blind Mouse.

The short film, which has a runtime of 16 minutes, was produced in the United States by DreamWorks Animation, Pacific Data Images, and Universal Creative. It received moderate reception from viewers, earning a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDb based on 6,700 votes and a score of 6/10 on TMDB from 296 votes.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Actors in Shrek costumes walk around Universal Studios theme park in California.
  • When the "Shrek" attraction opened at the theme park in Orlando, Florida in 2003, it only occupied half of the building, however, there were so many visitors that huge lines formed. It was necessary to urgently expand the attraction to vacant areas, which was done by the spring of 2004.
