Short description
Incredibles 2 picks up right after the first film, as the Parr family navigates life with superheroes still operating outside the law. Helen Parr, also known as Elastigirl, is recruited to spearhead a campaign aimed at winning public support for superheroes again, while Bob Parr, Mr. Incredible, stays home to look after Violet, Dash and baby Jack-Jack. Bob soon finds domestic life harder than he expected, especially as Jack-Jack begins to show powers of his own. The family's situation grows more complicated when a new villain emerges with a plan that threatens everyone, forcing the Parrs and their friend Frozone to work together once more. The film is the sequel to The Incredibles and was written and directed by Brad Bird, returning to the series fourteen years after the 2004 original, with Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter reprising their voice roles.
The film was produced by Pixar and Walt Disney Pictures with a budget of 200 million USD, and it became a major commercial success, grossing 1.24 billion USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.5 from 368,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 7.5 from nearly 14,000 votes, indicating broad audience approval. Its critics' rating stands at 7.9 from 384 reviews, slightly above the audience scores.
What's left behind the scenes
- At the end of the film, Violet and Tony go to the cinema. The poster features the inscription A113. This is a reference to classroom A113 at the California Institute of the Arts, where some of Pixar's artists studied.
- Bud Luckey from Pixar did not re-voice Rick Dicker, as he did in the original film, and was replaced by actor Jonathan Banks. Thus, Dicker became the second Pixar character to be voiced by both a studio employee and an actor. In the film "Cars" (2006), Chick Hicks is voiced by Michael Keaton, while in "Cars 3" (2017), he is voiced by screenwriter and animator Bob Peterson.
