Disco Pigs

Pig and Runt, whose real names are Darren and Sinead, were born in the same hospital only moments apart and grew up as inseparable companions, closer than twins though unrelated by blood. They share a private world with its own rules and its own language, needing no one else. As their seventeenth birthday approaches, that balance breaks down: Pig's sexual awakening and his jealousy of a schoolmate who takes an interest in Runt push him toward violence, and the friendship that held the two together is put at risk.

The 2001 Irish crime drama Disco Pigs was the feature directing debut of Kirsten Sheridan, working from a screenplay by Enda Walsh. Elaine Cassidy plays Runt and Cillian Murphy plays Pig, with Brían F. O'Byrne, Eleanor Methven, Geraldine O'Rawe and Darren Healy among a credited cast of 32. Ed Guiney produced for Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland and Temple Film & TV Productions Ltd, and the film runs 93 minutes.

On IMDb the film holds a critics' rating of 4.8 out of 10 from five reviews, while on TMDB it has a rating of 5.8 out of 10 from 78 votes. Sheridan's next feature as director was August Rush, released in 2007.
