The film features 20 deaf characters, all played by non-professional actors.
The project was funded by the State Film Agency of Ukraine, the Hubert Bals Fund of the Rotterdam International Film Festival, and the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
The casting search was extensive. Applicants from all over Ukraine, as well as from Gomel, Ryazan, Tolyatti, and Krasnodar auditioned for the roles.
'Tribe' is Miroslav Slaboshpytskyi's feature film debut.
'Tribe' is a film in sign language without subtitles.
The film has no musical score, as is typical of any film by Miroslav Slaboshpytskyi.
The film consists of 34 episodes.
Several scenes were filmed in Lviv, although the city itself is not shown in the film.
During the preparation for 'The Tribe,' Miroslav Slaboshpytskyi wrote the screenplay for the feature film 'Accident.'
France, Denmark, Japan, and the Netherlands acquired the film for distribution.
Actor Grigory Fesenko received an award at the Evolution International Mallorca Film Festival for best performance in a leading male role.
