What's left behind the scenes
- Many scenes from the film were reshot when Jerry Bruckheimer was brought on as a producer.
- Some scenes were filmed at NASA's center in New Orleans.
- Initially, the project was handled by Paramount Pictures, but then it came under the direction of Warner Bros.
- Jerry Bruckheimer became one of the producers at a late stage in the film's production. The studio rejected the original version of the film due to unsatisfactory audience reactions at preview screenings. Reshoots and new footage were ordered, with Laeta Kalogridis as the screenwriter, and Danny Cannon directing the entire process. It took two weeks and, reportedly, $15 million.
