Short description
Set in New Orleans in 1981, this crime drama follows Sonny Phillips, a young man returning home after his discharge from the army. Having previously worked as a gigolo for his mother, Sonny hopes to distance himself from that lifestyle and start over. However, his plans are hindered when a promised job from a former army colleague fails to happen. As he struggles to escape his past, he finds himself torn between his mother's expectations and his feelings for a woman named Carol.
The film was directed by Nicolas Cage, who also served as a producer and appeared in the cast as Acid Yellow. The lead role of Sonny was played by James Franco, with Brenda Blethyn, Harry Dean Stanton, Mena Suvari, and Scott Caan also featuring in the main cast.
