This film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Rand Ravich.
Depp received $8 million for this film, instead of his usual $5 million. For this amount, he cut off his curls and dyed what remained a mustard color.
At the 35th minute, Jillian Armacost turns on the radio, music can be heard, and there is no illumination. In the next frame, the scale illumination is visible (5 bulbs), then the illumination is inactive again, while the music continues to play.
