What's left behind the scenes
- The manga author, Hajime Isayama, initially thought the protective barrier would be made of trees, but ultimately chose a large wall.
- The Titan in the manga was 60 meters tall. In the film, it grew to 120 meters.
- The film was shot on an abandoned mining island.
- Tetsuya Nakashima was originally slated to direct the film, but he left the project due to creative differences.
- Most of the Titans were portrayed by actors in makeup, with only a small amount of computer animation added.
