Juggernaut

A transatlantic cruise ship, the Britannic, is somewhere at sea with around 1,200 people aboard when a caller who uses the name Juggernaut contacts the shipping company. Seven explosive devices have been hidden on the vessel, and the caller wants a large sum of money in return for instructions on how to disarm them. A bomb disposal expert, Anthony Fallon, is brought to the ship to find and neutralize the devices before they go off, while a Scotland Yard superintendent whose family is among the passengers works to identify the person responsible.

The film was directed by Richard Lester, the sixth of the thirteen features he directed in chronological order, arriving between The Four Musketeers and Royal Flash. Richard Alan Simmons and Alan Plater wrote the screenplay, and Simmons produced. Richard Harris plays Fallon, with Omar Sharif as Captain Alex Brunel, David Hemmings, Anthony Hopkins, Shirley Knight and Ian Holm in supporting roles. It was released in September 1974 and took about 3 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.6/10 from roughly 7,300 votes, and on TMDB 6.3/10 from 147 votes, while a critics' rating stands at 7.7/10 from 12 reviews, higher than either audience figure.
