- Originally, Jekyll's transformation was planned to be conveyed without the help of makeup, relying solely on Barrymore's ability to contort his face. It is clearly visible in the scene where Hyde first reverts back into Jekyll that makeup peels off his finger, shaken by Barrymore's convulsions.
