Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a 1920 American silent film based on Robert Louis Stevenson's novel. John Barrymore plays Dr. Henry Jekyll, a respected physician and researcher who becomes convinced that good and evil can be separated within a single person. His experiments lead him to test a serum on himself, and the result is a transformation into the monstrous Mr. Hyde, who acts on the darker impulses Jekyll has suppressed.

The film was directed by John S. Robertson, who had made Here Comes the Bride the previous year and would go on to direct Footlights in 1921. Clara Beranger wrote the screenplay, and Adolph Zukor produced for Famous Players-Lasky Corporation.
