- Anna Kendrick took many of her character's traits from her own mother. Her mother actually worked as an accountant at the time, and to help her daughter better get into the role, she specifically taught her the basics of accounting.

- This is the second joint project for Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons. They previously starred together in Jason Reitman's tragicomedy 'Up in the Air' (2009).
