The Adventures of Hercules is an Italian-American fantasy adventure in which Zeus's seven thunderbolts are stolen by renegade gods and scattered across the Earth, upsetting the order of the universe. Zeus turns once more to his son Hercules, who must recover the missing bolts, confront the forces behind the theft and deal with the revived King Minos. Two young women, Glaucia and Urania, become caught up in his mission.
Luigi Cozzi wrote and directed the film, his fifth feature, arriving two years after his earlier Hercules and following Godzilla, Starcrash and Contamination in his filmography. Lou Ferrigno returns in the title role, with Milly Carlucci, Sonia Viviani, William Berger, Carla Ferrigno and Claudio Cassinelli among the cast. Yoram Globus, Menahem Golan and Alfred Pecoriello produced for Cannon Group, Golan-Globus Productions and Cannon Italia Srl, and the film runs 88 minutes.
Released in May 1985, the film has an IMDb rating of 4 out of 10 from around 1,800 votes, while on TMDB it holds 4.8 out of 10 from 65 votes. Both figures point to a modest reception among viewers, with the larger IMDb sample reflecting the broader audience for this kind of effects-driven Italian fantasy of the period.
