Wrong Is Right is a 1982 political satire about a television reporter, Patrick Hale, who finds himself at the centre of an international crisis. Two suitcase-sized nuclear devices have gone missing, and the trail runs through the Middle East, arms dealers and rival intelligence services. Hale pursues the story across several countries, while the American president tries to keep the affair from damaging his re-election campaign and his political opponents look for ways to use the weapons against him. The plot also involves an Arab leader, an Israeli connection and the threat that a major city could be targeted.
Richard Brooks directed, produced and wrote the film, the eleventh in his directing career according to the chronological record, following Looking for Mr. Goodbar in 1977. Sean Connery plays Hale, with George Grizzard as President Lockwood, Robert Conrad as General Wombat, Katharine Ross as Sally Blake, G. D. Spradlin as Philindros and John Saxon as Homer Hubbard, among a credited cast of 25.
The film had a budget of 10 million US dollars and took around 4 million at the worldwide box office, a result well below its cost. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.6 out of 10 from about 2,400 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 5.6 out of 10, from roughly 62 votes.
