The Cheetah Girls

The Cheetah Girls follows four teenage friends in New York who sing together as a group. Galleria, Chanel, Aqua and Dorinda attend a Manhattan high school for the performing arts, where they set out to become the first freshmen ever to win the school talent show. While preparing for the auditions, they are noticed by a well-known music producer, Jackal Johnson, who offers to turn them into stars. His plans for the group soon clash with what the girls want for themselves, and their friendship is tested as they weigh a shot at fame against staying true to their own sound.

The film is a television musical comedy-drama released in 2003, directed by Oz Scott and written by Alison Taylor. It was Scott's third feature, arriving after Mr. Boogedy and Spanish Judges, and it was produced by BrownHouse Productions and Martin Chase Productions. Raven-Symoné leads the cast as Galleria, with Adrienne Bailon-Houghton, Kiely Williams and Sabrina Bryan as the other three members. Lynn Whitfield plays Galleria's mother, Dorothea, and Sandra Caldwell appears as Drinka Champagne. Twenty-six cast members and seventy-seven crew members are credited.

Audience response has been modest: on IMDb the film holds a rating of 5 out of 10 from roughly 9,600 votes, while on TMDB it averages 6.1 out of 10 from about 500 votes. The larger sample on IMDb points to a mixed reaction, whereas the smaller TMDB group is somewhat more favorable.
