Short description
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse centers on Miles Morales, a Brooklyn teenager adjusting to a new school and to the demands of family, who gains extraordinary abilities after being bitten by a radioactive spider. Before he can make sense of what has happened to him, he crosses paths with Peter Parker and with a criminal scheme involving Wilson Fisk, a powerful figure whose particle collider tears open passages between dimensions. The machine pulls several other spider-powered people into Miles's world, among them an older, wearier Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker and Spider-Ham, and Miles must work with them to stop Fisk while working out what kind of hero he intends to be. The film is an animated science-fiction adventure set in New York.
It was directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman, who wrote the screenplay with Phil Lord; Avi Arad, Christina Steinberg and Phil Lord produced. Ramsey's earlier work includes Rise of the Guardians, and Persichetti later directed Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Shameik Moore voices Miles, with Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry and Lily Tomlin among the cast, which numbers 75 credited performers and 412 credited crew.
Made for about 90 million USD, the film took roughly 376 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 8.4/10 from around 780,000 votes, and on TMDB 8.4/10 from some 18,000 votes, while critics rated it 8.8/10 across 399 reviews, placing it slightly above the audience scores.
