Flic Story is a French crime drama set in post-war Paris, where police inspector Roger Borniche is tasked with tracking down Émile Buisson, a violent robber who has escaped from a psychiatric institution. Borniche works without a gun and relies on informants and patience, while Buisson eliminates anyone who might betray him, including his own accomplices, and keeps pulling off hold-ups across the capital. The two men become locked in a long pursuit, and even when Borniche is taken off the case, he keeps following leads that bring him back to the killer's trail.
Jacques Deray directed the film, his sixth feature, arriving between Borsalino and The Gang in the run of titles listed for him. He co-wrote the screenplay with Alphonse Boudard. Alain Delon plays Borniche and also produced, with Raymond Danon; Jean-Louis Trintignant plays Buisson, and the cast includes Claudine Auger, Renato Salvatori, André Pousse and Marco Perrin, among twenty-four credited performers.
Released in October 1975, the film runs 112 minutes and was made as an Italian-French co-production. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.9 from around 3,400 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 from roughly 122 votes, a smaller sample that comes in somewhat lower than the IMDb figure.
