Short description

Entering the Sea is a short drama that explores the experience of a young girl who feels isolated despite being on a crowded beach. The story serves as a poetic reflection on the early stages of human life, contrasting the child's perception of the sea as a symbol of freedom and existence against the mundane reality of the adults surrounding her.

Produced in the Soviet Union by Dovzhenko Film Studios, the 15-minute film was released in 1965. It was directed by Leonid Osyka, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Yevhen Khryniuk. This project marks the first in a series of films directed by Osyka, followed by Zakhar Berkut in 1972, Who was loved by all in 1982, and The Birthday Present in 1991.

Audience reception for the film is mixed. On IMDb, it holds a rating of 6.7/10 based on 108 votes, while it has a lower rating of 4.1/10 on TMDB from 10 votes.
