Alvin Purple

Alvin Purple is an ordinary young man with one unusual problem: women find him irresistible and pursue him constantly. He tries to keep them at a distance and seeks psychiatric help for his situation, but the doctors he approaches end up putting him to use treating their other patients instead. The Australian comedy follows his attempts to cope with the attention he never asked for.

Tim Burstall directed the film, working from a screenplay by Alan Hopgood, with Burstall and Robin Copping producing. It was Burstall's first feature, followed the same year by Libido. Graeme Blundell plays Alvin, heading a credited cast of thirty-nine that includes Abigail, Lynette Curran, Christine Amor, Dina Mann and Dennis Miller. The film runs ninety-five minutes.
