Daddy Long Legs

A wealthy American businessman, Jervis Pendleton, encounters a lively eighteen-year-old girl at a French orphanage and arranges to fund her college education in New England from a distance, on the condition that she never learns who he is. The girl, Julie Andre, writes to her unknown benefactor regularly, though he keeps the letters and never replies. When he eventually visits her at school, he continues to hide his identity, and in spite of the considerable gap in their ages, the two grow close.
