Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

The wizard Albus Dumbledore is aware that the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald intends to take control of the magical world, and he cannot stop him on his own. He turns to the magizoologist Newt Scamander, who leads a group of witches, wizards and a Muggle baker on a dangerous mission. Along the way the team meets both familiar and new magical creatures and comes up against Grindelwald's expanding following. Dumbledore's own part in the struggle becomes increasingly important.

David Yates directed the film, the eighth in his run of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films and the third entry in the Fantastic Beasts series. J.K. Rowling and Steve Kloves wrote the screenplay; Rowling and Kloves produced with David Heyman. Eddie Redmayne returns as Newt Scamander, with Jude Law as Dumbledore, Mads Mikkelsen as Grindelwald, Ezra Miller as Credence, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski and Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein.

Released in April 2022, the film runs 142 minutes. It had a budget of around 200 million US dollars and took roughly 407 million US dollars worldwide, a modest return for a production of that size. On IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from about 192,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.6 out of 10 from some 5,000 votes. A film critics' rating of 5.4 out of 10 from 247 reviews places it below both audience scores.
