Antoine Abeilard is a successful French film composer with a taste for easy charm and casual romance. He travels to India to write the score for a Bollywood version of Romeo and Juliet, and while he is there he meets Anna Hamon, the wife of the French ambassador. The two have little in common, yet they are drawn to each other, and the relationship that develops proves far from simple. Claude Lelouch directed and co-wrote the film with Valérie Perrin, working from a story about a man whose life resembles the ones he scores.
Jean Dujardin leads the cast as Antoine, with Elsa Zylberstein as Anna and Christophe Lambert as Samuel Hamon. Alice Pol, Rahul Vohra and Shriya Pilgaonkar appear in supporting roles. The film was released in December 2015 and runs 115 minutes. It is the twelfth feature Lelouch directed, arriving between D'un film à l'autre in 2011 and At the End of the Day in 2024. Shot across several countries and produced with backing from Canal+, Davis Films, France 2 Cinéma and Mister Smith Entertainment, it took in about 8 million dollars worldwide.
Audience response has been moderate: on IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from roughly 2,600 votes, and on TMDB 5.8 out of 10 from around 200 votes.
