Southbound

Southbound is a horror and thriller anthology featuring five interwoven stories set along a desolate desert highway. The plot follows various travelers, including a family on vacation, a musical group heading to a show, two men fleeing their pasts, a man attempting to return home, and a brother searching for his missing sister. These characters are forced to face their darkest secrets and worst nightmares as they travel the isolated road.

The film was produced by Willowbrook Regent Films and directed by a large team including Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, David Bruckner, Patrick Horvath, Tyler Gillett, Justin Martinez, Chad Villella, and Roxanne Benjamin. For Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, this followed their work on V/H/S and Devil's Due. Bruckner, Martinez, and Villella had previously worked on V/H/S, while this served as the first directing credit for Benjamin. The screenplay was written by Bettinelli-Olpin, Bruckner, and Horvath. The cast features Fabianne Therese, Larry Fessenden, Kate Beahan, Zoe Cooper, Gerald Downey, and Karla Droege, among 29 credited performers.

Audience reception was moderate, with a 5.9/10 rating on IMDb from 23,000 votes and a 5.9/10 rating on TMDB from 705 votes. Film critics gave the movie a higher score, with a rating of 7/10 based on 52 reviews.
