The Phantom of the Opera

A diva at the Budapest Opera House takes her own life after her career is sabotaged by the theater's owner, who sought revenge for her rejecting his romantic advances. Her husband, a conductor who was thought to have died in a fire, survives and returns to seek vengeance against those he holds accountable for his wife's death. Hiding a disfigured face behind a mask, he haunts the opera house as a phantom, eventually intervening when a new singer appears who resembles his late wife.
