Eddie Macon's Run

Eddie Macon's Run follows a man who escapes from a Texas prison to reach his wife and son, who are waiting for him across the Mexican border. Wrongly convicted and facing a long sentence if he is caught again, Eddie Macon decides the risk is worth taking. A veteran lawman, Carl "Buster" Marzack, takes up the pursuit, determined to bring him back and prove he is still capable of the job. The chase runs across the state toward the border, with a bored wealthy young woman named Jilly Buck becoming involved along the way.

The 1983 film was directed by Jeff Kanew, who also wrote the screenplay, working from a story by Richard T. Heffron. It was the first of the five features he directed in the chronological record, ahead of Revenge of the Nerds, Gotcha!, Troop Beverly Hills and National Lampoon's The Legend of Awesomest Maximus. Kirk Douglas plays Marzack, the pursuer, with John Schneider as the fugitive. Leah Ayres appears as Eddie's wife, Chris, while Lee Purcell plays Jilly Buck and Tom Noonan and Jay O. Sanders play Darryl and Rudy Potts. Louis A. Stroller and Martin Bregman produced for Universal Pictures.
