A Sydney security firm that moves money for a living becomes the target of the very men who know its routines best. An anonymous letter warns the company that its counting house is next, and suspicion spreads among the staff and the people watching from outside. Eric Jackson, who runs the personnel side of the business, has spent a long time working out how to take twenty million dollars from the depot, with his brother Brian beside him. Two former policemen on the payroll, Dick Martin and Leo Bassett, are meant to be kept clear of the place when the plan is put into action, but the scheme does not unfold as intended. The film was adapted from Devon Minchin's Australian novel The Money Movers.
Bruce Beresford directed and wrote the screenplay, with Matt Carroll producing for the South Australian Film Corporation and the New South Wales Film Corp. It was Beresford's first feature as director among the twenty films listed for him, ahead of Breaker Morant in 1980. The cast of twenty-six credited performers is led by Terence Donovan as Eric Jackson, Tony Bonner as Leo Bassett, Bryan Brown as Brian Jackson, Ed Devereaux as Dick Martin, Frank Wilson as Lionel Darcy and Lucky Grills as Robert Conway.
Released in October 1978 and running 92 minutes, the crime thriller holds a rating of 6.1 out of 10 on TMDB from 21 votes, a modest showing that suggests a small but settled following rather than wide enthusiasm.
