Ferdinand
Short description
Ferdinand is a bull who would rather sit under a cork tree and smell flowers than run, snort and butt heads with the other young bulls. He grows into a large, powerful animal, but his gentle temperament never changes. When men arrive looking for the biggest, fastest and roughest bull for the bullfights in Madrid, Ferdinand is taken away by mistake, separated from the home and the people he loves. He must find a way back to them, with help from a group of misfit companions he meets along the way.
The 2017 animated family adventure was directed by Carlos Saldanha, whose earlier features include the second and third Ice Age films and both Rio films. It was written by Robert L. Baird, Brad Copeland and Tim Federle, and produced by John Davis, Lori Forte and Bruce Anderson for Blue Sky Studios. John Cena voices Ferdinand, with Kate McKinnon, Anthony Anderson, Bobby Cannavale, Peyton Manning and Gina Rodriguez among the voice cast.
Made for a budget of about 111 million dollars, the film took in roughly 295 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.7 out of 10 from around 71,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.2 out of 10 from a few thousand votes. A critics' rating of 6.2 out of 10 from 118 reviews places it close to the audience scores, indicating a moderately received film rather than a divisive one.
