Short description

Dr. Jack Hammond is a widowed heart surgeon who is in line to become head of his hospital. He is devoted to his work and has little patience for the troubles of his teenage son Chris, who is struggling at school and trying to work up the nerve to ask out a girl he likes. After a serum based on an old Native American recipe is left within reach, father and son drink it by mistake and their minds end up in each other's bodies. Jack must navigate high school while Chris gets behind the wheel of his father's car and spends his credit cards, and each begins to understand the other's life from the inside. An antidote exists, but the only person who knows how to make it is away on an expedition.

The film is a body-swap comedy directed by Rod Daniel, whose earlier credits as director were Teen Wolf and Stranded; K-9, The Super and Beethoven's 2nd followed it. The screenplay is credited to Lorne Cameron, David Hoselton and Steve Bloom. Dudley Moore plays Jack and Kirk Cameron plays Chris, with Margaret Colin, Catherine Hicks, Patrick O'Neal and Sean Astin among the supporting cast. Made for about 11 million dollars, it took in roughly 34 million worldwide, a solid return on its cost. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.3 from around 6,900 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 5.8 from about 155 votes, indicating modest audience scores.
