Fantozzi to the Rescue

Ugo Fantozzi has retired, but the accounting firm where he spent his working life still calls him back once a year. The company trots him out in front of new hires as an example of the kind of meek, defeated employee they should not become. The humiliation finally pushes him to change the way he spends whatever time he has left.

Directed by Neri Parenti, this is the seventh of the fifteen films he has directed in chronological order, following Fantozzi Retires and preceding The Comics. The screenplay is credited to Leonardo Benvenuti, Paolo Villaggio and Piero De Bernardi, and the Cecchi Gori Group produced the film through its Tiger Cinematografica, Penta Film and Maura International Films companies. Paolo Villaggio returns as the accountant Fantozzi, with Milena Vukotić as his wife Pina, Gigi Reder as his colleague Filini, Plinio Fernando as his daughter Mariangela, Anna Mazzamauro as Signorina Silvani and Luigi Petrucci as a clinic psychiatrist. Twenty-two cast members and forty-seven crew members are credited.

The comedy runs 82 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.8 from around 1,800 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6 out of 10 from roughly 365 votes. Audience response is therefore middling rather than enthusiastic, with the two scores close to each other and the larger IMDb sample settling somewhat lower.
