Freeze Me

Chihiro Yamazaki has built a quiet life in Tokyo, with a steady job, an apartment of her own, and a colleague she plans to marry. What her fiancé and the people around her do not know is that five years earlier she was raped by three men. When one of them reappears and begins harassing and threatening her, the composure she has maintained since leaving her home village collapses, and she kills him. She hides the body in the freezer she keeps at home. The other two attackers then turn up as well, and she sets about taking revenge on them in the same cold manner.

Takashi Ishii wrote and directed this Japanese drama, horror and thriller, and also served as one of its producers alongside Taketo Niitsu and Nobuaki Nagae. It followed his two Gonin films and came before Sweet Whip and Gonin Saga. Harumi Inoue plays Chihiro, with Shingo Tsurumi, Kazuki Kitamura, Shunsuke Matsuoka, Naoto Takenaka and Yozaburo Ito in supporting roles.

Freeze Me runs 101 minutes and was released in 2000. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.2 from more than two thousand votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.8 from a much smaller number of votes, suggesting a modest and somewhat mixed response rather than a widely celebrated one.
