What's left behind the scenes

  • The film has nothing to do with the first two parts of the series.
  • Bryon James (Max Jenke) stated in several interviews that this was his favorite role of all the ones he has played.
  • Rita Taggart had never been a fan of horror films, but agreed to take on the role in this film because she had a "window" before filming began on the television series "Almost Grown" (1988-1989). Furthermore, she really wanted to work with Lance Henriksen.
  • According to producer Sean S. Cunningham, the film was originally going to be called "House III," but the new distributor – MGM – wanted it to be the start of a potentially new series of films with the famous villain, so the script was changed and received the new title "House of Horrors" for release in the US, while the title "House III" remained for foreign markets.
