The Lords of Flatbush
Short description
Set in 1958 Brooklyn, this comedy drama follows four working-class teenagers who call themselves the Lords of Flatbush. Chico, Stanley, Butchey and Wimpy wear black leather jackets, spend their days shooting pool and chasing girls, and share whatever trouble comes their way. Chico sets his sights on Jane, and the group steals a car to help him impress her, but she leaves him for a football player, which puts the friends on a collision course with a rival crowd. Stanley, meanwhile, faces the prospect of marriage, pushing the group toward a maturity none of them is ready for.
The film was directed by Martin Davidson and Stephen Verona, who also wrote the screenplay with Gayle Gleckler; Verona produced it. It was released in 1974 and runs 86 minutes. Its cast includes Perry King, Sylvester Stallone, Henry Winkler, Paul Mace, Susan Blakely and Maria Smith. The film grossed about 4 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.6 out of 10 from roughly 5,500 votes, and on TMDB it stands at 5.8 out of 10 from 98 votes, indicating a modest overall reception from viewers.

- According to Stallone, he received 25 t-shirts as payment for his work on the film.
- The film's release was delayed by more than a year because the producers needed additional funding for editing and post-production.
- Stallone was allowed to improvise on set, and as a result, he added extra dialogue to the script.
- Richard Gere was initially cast as Chico, but during production, he had constant clashes with Stallone, once escalating into a fight. As a result, the director replaced Gere with Perry King.
- According to Stallone's recollections, Robert De Niro wanted to play the role of Chico, but ultimately declined in favor of filming "Slow Burn".
