Night Gallery

Night Gallery is a horror and thriller anthology that presents three eerie stories connected by morbid paintings. Presented by Rod Serling, who also wrote the screenplay, the film explores strange narratives titled The Cemetery, Eyes, and The Escape Route. This television movie functioned as a backdoor pilot for a series of the same name that premiered in December 1970.

The production was created by Universal Television and featured a cast including Joan Crawford, Ossie Davis, Richard Kiley, Roddy McDowall, Barry Sullivan, and Tom Bosley. It was a collaborative effort between three directors. Steven Spielberg directed one of the segments, marking the first of 40 films in his career, followed by Duel in 1971. Barry Shear also directed a segment, which was the first in a chronological sequence that included Across 110th Street and Rickles. Boris Sagal directed the third portion; this work followed his 1969 film Mosquito Squadron and preceded The Omega Man in 1971.
