The Night Stalker

The Night Stalker follows Carl Kolchak, a reporter working for a small Las Vegas newspaper, who covers a series of murders. The victims are young women, all killed at night and found drained of blood, and Kolchak becomes convinced that a vampire is responsible. His editor dismisses him as unstable and the police treat him as a nuisance, so he pursues the case on his own.

The film was directed by John Llewellyn Moxey and produced by Dan Curtis. It came after Moxey's Laura and before Sanctuary of Fear in his filmography. Darren McGavin plays Kolchak, with Carol Lynley as Gail Foster, Simon Oakland as Tony Vincenzo, Ralph Meeker as Bernie Jenks, Claude Akins as Sheriff Warren A. Butcher and Charles McGraw as Police Chief Ed Masterson. Made for television by ABC Circle Films, it runs 74 minutes.

On IMDb it holds 7.4 out of 10 from around 8,400 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.9 out of 10 from a much smaller base of 137 votes. A critics' rating of 6.3 out of 10 from eight reviews sits below the audience score on IMDb.
