Two small-time thieves, Strepsil and Aspirin, break into a hotel room and take a passport belonging to a man who has just been murdered. Hidden inside it is a microfilm that a crime boss badly wants back, and the pair have no idea what they are carrying. The thieves pass the film to a friend, the forger Panadol, while the underworld closes in.
The case falls to Senior Inspector Ng of the Hong Kong police and Senior Inspector Carrie Morris, sent from Britain. The two women work the investigation from different angles as the trail leads toward triad leader Henry Tin, who is determined to recover the evidence against him.
Yes, Madam! was released in 1985 and marked the directorial debut of Corey Yuen, the first of fourteen films he directed in chronological order, followed by No Retreat, No Surrender in 1986. Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock star as the two inspectors, with John Shum and Mang Hoi as the thieves, Tsui Hark as Panadol, and James Tien as Tin. The film runs 93 minutes and took about 1 million dollars worldwide. On TMDB it holds a 7.2 rating from 118 votes, reflecting a modest but appreciative audience for this Hong Kong action comedy.
