What's left behind the scenes
- Sylvester Stallone was initially chosen for the lead role, but he declined after creative differences arose.
- Aaron Keshales and Navot Papushado were offered to direct the film, but both declined.
- Joe Carnahan intended to film this movie with Liam Neeson and Frank Grillo in the lead roles. Both actors had appeared in Carnahan's "The Grey." However, the studio decided to cast Bruce Willis, and Carnahan left the project. Gerardo Naranjo was then brought on as director. He wanted Benicio del Toro for the lead role. Upon learning that another actor had been cast, Naranjo also left the project.
- Filming of the movie was completed in Chicago on October 1, 2016.
- Russell Crowe, Matt Damon, Benicio del Toro, Brad Pitt, and Will Smith were offered the role of Paul Kersey. Bruce Willis was subsequently cast in the role.
