Death Wish

Dr. Paul Kersey is a Chicago trauma surgeon who spends his working hours treating the casualties of the city's street violence. His comfortable family life is shattered when his wife is killed and his daughter badly injured during a break-in at their home. With the police investigation making no headway, Paul stops leaving the matter to the authorities. He begins hunting criminals himself, and footage of his nighttime confrontations spreads online, turning him into a figure the public debates as either a protector or a vigilante. Detective Rains takes a particular interest in the case as the body count rises.

Eli Roth directed the film, which sits between The House with a Clock in Its Walls and Thanksgiving in his filmography. Bruce Willis leads the cast as Paul Kersey, a role previously associated with Charles Bronson. Vincent D'Onofrio plays Paul's brother Frank, Dean Norris is Detective Rains, and Elisabeth Shue and Camila Morrone appear as Lucy and Jordan Kersey. The screenplay is credited to Wendell Mayes and Joe Carnahan, with Sylvester Stallone among the producers.
