Short description

Set in the Kanto region following a massive earthquake on September 1, 1923, this historical drama explores the chaos and violence that ensued. Amidst the widespread devastation and circulating rumors, the military carries out a campaign of arrests and killings targeting Koreans, anarchists, and socialists. The story focuses on the murder of Sakae Osugi and the reaction of his students and peers. Among them is a young man named Furukawa, who becomes more determined to remove the military from power.

Produced by the Shintoho Company, the film was directed by Kiyoshi Komori and featured a screenplay written by Kōzō Uchida. Released on January 30, 1960, the Japanese production runs for 94 minutes and blends elements of history and thriller.
