What's left behind the scenes
- Jamie, played by James Norton, says the phrase "Today is a good day to die." In Joel Schumacher's 1990 film, which Niels Arden Oplev's film is a remake of, David, played by Kevin Bacon, says "hozhokei," which in the language of Native North Americans means the same thing – "Today is a good day to die."
- At the end of the film, a voiceover says, "There are boundaries that are best not crossed." This is the tagline of the 1990 film (a tagline is a concise phrase that reflects the main message of the filmmakers).
- All the medical students shown in Niels Arden Oplev's film have names different from those of the characters in Joel Schumacher's film, and sometimes even have different genders and nationalities, but their stories are similar to those of the main characters in the 1990 film.
