Alucarda

After losing her parents, a young woman named Justine is brought to a Mexican convent where she is to be raised among the nuns. There she forms a close bond with her roommate Alucarda, a strange girl whose origins are tied to Satan. The two girls make a blood pact, and their friendship draws the attention of the convent's authorities, who try to intervene as demonic possession, Satan worship and vampirism take hold of the community.

Juan López Moctezuma directed the film, his second feature after Mary, Mary, Bloody Mary in 1975, and he also co-wrote the screenplay with Alexis Arroyo and produced it. The cast includes Tina Romero as Alucarda, Susana Kamini as Justine, Claudio Brook as Dr. Oszek, David Silva as Father Lázaro, Lily Garza as Daniela Oszek and Tina French as Sister Angélica. The film was made in Mexico and runs 77 minutes.

On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.2 from roughly 4,900 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 from a much smaller base of 158 votes. Set in the mid-nineteenth century, the film has since become a point of reference for Mexican horror.
