What's left behind the scenes

  • Before the end credits begin, a dedication appears on the screen. The director dedicated this film to the memory of his father, David Robert Jones, better known as David Bowie (1947-2016), and his beloved nanny, Marion Skinn.
  • Initially, it was planned to make a gangster film set in modern Britain. Then it was decided to move the action to Tokyo and cast Ken Watanabe in the lead role.
  • The character played by Paul Rudd uses the so-called Bowie knife, named after its inventor, a hero of the Texas Revolution, James “Jim” Bowie (1796-1836). The director Duncan Jones’ father took the knife’s name as a stage pseudonym and became David Bowie.
  • When Cactus goes to a strip club, Sam Bell, the protagonist of the science fiction film “Moon 2112” – Duncan Jones’ feature directorial debut – is shown on the news.
  • The film begins with an orchestral arrangement of Philip Glass's "Heroes," composed for David Bowie.
  • At the beginning of the film, a photograph of the film's director, Duncan Jones, dressed in Amish clothing is shown.
