The character played by Robert Nepper uses the same rifle that Lance Henriksen's character used in John Woo's 1993 film “Hard Target”. It is a Contender model from the American firm Thompson/Center Arms.
The film features pigeons, which is a reference to John Woo, the director of the original 1993 film. Woo repeatedly filmed pigeons in his films.
This film is considered a sequel to the 1993 action film, but none of the actors from Woo's film appear in the cast of Roel Reiné's thriller.
The speedboat chase scene was originally written into the script for 'Hard Target' in 1993, but at some point it was replaced with a horse chase. This scene was included here as a tribute to John Woo.
