Night Watch

Ellen Wheeler is recovering from a nervous breakdown when she sees a murder take place in the abandoned house next door. She tells her husband and the police what she witnessed, but the state of her mental health makes them doubt her account. As those close to her try to persuade her that she was mistaken, Ellen begins to question her own experience while still fearing that the killer may want to silence the only witness to the crime.

Brian G. Hutton directed the film, which followed Where Eagles Dare (1968) and Kelly's Heroes (1970) in his run of features. Tony Williamson and Evan Jones wrote the screenplay, and the cast is led by Elizabeth Taylor as Ellen Wheeler, with Laurence Harvey as John Wheeler, Billie Whitelaw as Sarah Cooke, Robert Lang as Appleby, Tony Britton as Tony and Bill Dean as Inspector Walker. George W. George, Martin Poll and Barnard Straus produced the British and American co-production.

The film runs 99 minutes and was released in November 1973. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.3 out of 10 from around 2,700 votes, and on TMDB it also stands at 6.3 out of 10 from a much smaller number of 44 votes. A critics' score of 4.5 out of 10 from ten reviews places it below the audience ratings.
