Revenge of the Creature

Two scientists travel back to the Amazon in search of the creature presumed dead after earlier expeditions. They manage to capture the half-man, half-fish being and transport it to a marine park in Florida, where it is put on display for visitors and studied by researchers. A young ichthyologist, Helen Dobson, becomes the focus of the creature's attention, and it breaks free from its enclosure.

This is Jack Arnold's fourth feature as director, following It Came from Outer Space, Creature from the Black Lagoon and Tarantula, all released within the two years before it, and preceding This Island Earth the same year. Martin Berkeley wrote the screenplay, William Alland produced, and John Agar and Lori Nelson lead a credited cast of thirty, with John Bromfield, Nestor Paiva, Grandon Rhodes and Dave Willock in supporting roles. The film was shot in 3-D, as was its 1954 predecessor.

The film is a sequel to Creature from the Black Lagoon, released the previous year, and continues the story of the same monster. It grossed about a million dollars worldwide. Audiences are lukewarm: it holds a rating of 5.6 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 7,700 votes and the same score on TMDB from 171 votes. A critics' rating of 3.3 out of 10 from eight reviews places professional assessments below the audience scores.
