Blue Sunshine

A party turns violent when a man suddenly snaps and kills three women, and Jerry Zipkin, who was present, is blamed for crimes he did not commit. As he tries to clear himself, similar attacks break out across the city with troubling regularity. His search for answers leads him to a photograph marked with the words Blue Sunshine, to a candidate for governor named Edward Flemming, and to a group of former students who shared something at Stanfort University a decade earlier. Those investigating the case notice that the attackers have lost their hair, and that the drug they once took appears to have stayed dormant in them until now.

Jeff Lieberman wrote and directed the film, his second feature after Squirm in 1976 and before Just Before Dawn in 1981. Zalman King plays Jerry, with Deborah Winters as Alicia Sweeney, Mark Goddard as Edward Flemming, Robert Walden as David Blume and Charles Siebert as Detective Clay. The film runs 94 minutes and was produced by George Manasse through Ellanby Films with Cinema Shares International Distribution.

Released in December 1977, the American horror, mystery and science fiction film holds a rating of 5.7 out of 10 on TMDB from a small number of votes, a modest response for a low-profile genre release of its era.
